WHO WE ARE

Michael Worthington: I am a dendrochronologist working in the UK and USA undertaking tree-ring dating of timber buidings, and a partner in The Oxford Dendrochronology Laboratory. My research interests include medieval and post-medieval timber-framed buildings of southern England; colonial-era buildings in the USA; and the timber trade between the USA, UK, and the Caribbean. I worked on Channel 4's Time Team for seven years as the excavation supervisor, where I was also known by the nickname Mick the Dig. I now go back to do their tree-ring dating, most recently at Piercebridge in County Durham where we excavated and dated a Roman bridge.
